　　沙漠国家特拉基斯坦发生暴乱后，世界格局进入了一个全新的时代。这个已被战火摧残得四分五裂的国家，居然被一个由前美国副总统经营的私人企业所占领。为了垄断战后至关重要的供给线，公司高层雇佣了一个不受国籍限制的杀手布兰德·豪瑟（约翰·库萨克 John Cusack 饰）。然而多年前早已向上司沃肯（本·金斯利 Ben Kingsley 饰）提出金盆洗手的布兰德，并不知晓此次任务其实是一个陷阱。几年前，布兰德妻子被杀女儿失踪，布兰德饱受心魔折磨。布兰德这次任务是被派去刺杀中东的石油部长，为了能够顺利完成任务，布兰德伪装成企业的贸易展商，参加中东一个当红明星尤妮卡·贝贝耶（希拉里·达芙 Hilary Duff 饰）的婚礼。与此同时，布兰德不可自拔地爱上了一个性感的左翼激进派记者娜塔丽（玛丽莎·托梅 Marisa Tomei 饰）。然而事实真相却再次让布兰德走向崩溃的边缘。
